Premium Tourism offer growing in Mexico

Elizondo Torres, Tourism Minister, representing the Mexican President outlined that the inauguration of the St. Regis Resort of Starwood Hotels & Resort Worldwide Chain and the Grupo Ideurban, will have an impact on the economic income and employment generation of the State of Nayarit. This property with 120 rooms and various service areas represents an investment of around 100 million dollars, including its machinery and equipment, giving also employment to over 320 people.
Mexico finds in tourism an answer to long term welfare, a mighty engine generating the income and jobs the country needs and attracting new productive investment opportunities, as is the case with Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide which will soon add their presence also in Mexico City.
The head of SECTUR highlighted that Mexico is a country with great economic stability and in the process of consolidating several reforms and laws that give certainty to important investments; therefore, and in view of this trust, the present government is highly committed to sustainable touristic development.
“That is why it is so important to reiterate that President Calderón has launched several public infrastructure investments at an historic level never seen before, to create in our country the right business ambiance for investment”. “This firm determination of the Republic’s Government will allow us to propitiate a greater local and national development, as well as the possibility to open new touristic destinations in the coming years and to fortify the existing ones with the sole objective of raising the level of competitiveness of our touristic sector” emphasized Elizondo Torres.
He added that within the national touristic context and as part of the activities the Ministrhy of Tourism promotes, it is the creation of new, high quality products and services such as this one in the Riviera Nayarit, that have contributed to increase the varied touristic offer of our country, therefore promoting a longer stay of our international visitors.
